Rent allowance

You can apply for rent subsidy from the tax authorities. The tax authorities determine whether you are entitled to a rent subsidy or not. We can only indicate whether it is possible to apply for rent subsidy for your address. Extensive information about the rent allowance can be found on the Belastingsienst website under 'toeslagen' (grants).

You can also make a test calculation at toeslagen.nl. This test calculation gives an indication of the amount of the allowance, but you cannot derive any rights from it. To calculate the rent allowance, the tax authorities ask for a number of amounts, namely the basic rent and a number of components from the service costs: 

• Dirt costs and cleaning
• Communal energy consumption
• Caretaker and social management

It may be that you pay for all components, but you may only pay for a part. Only fill in the components that you see in your rent. The sum of your basic rent and the components for the rent allowance is also called the computed rent or the eligible rent. This is the amount over which the tax authorities will calculate the rent allowance.
