You can easily terminate your contract through your personal page or the My Plaza app. This way you can be sure that you terminate your contract in the right way.

At least 1 month in advance

1. Notice Period: Plan Ahead (1–3 Months Before End Date)

  • Timing is key: You may cancel your contract at least 1 month and no more than 3 months before the end date.

  • You can submit your termination with a one month notice period.

  • Do you have a minimum stay of 12 months in your contract, but you need to end your contract earlier?

    • An administrative fee of €250 applies if you terminate before your contract’s minimum period expires.

  • Special cases:

    • If you're renting via the Utrecht University Reserved Accommodation Programme at Limapad, you're committed to a fixed rental period.
      → To cancel early, you must propose a replacement candidate for your accommodation.

    • If you rent a property on Polakweg / Volmerlaan in Rijswijk, termination during the agreed minimum rental period is not possible.

Final inspection

  • A final inspection ensures the property is returned in the agreed condition.

  • Use the Final Checklist to prepare for inspection and avoid deductions.

Return keys

  • Hand in your keys on the agreed date and location stated in your termination confirmation letter.

  • Check the letter for the exact drop‑off details (time/place).

Final invoice

  • After termination, you'll receive a departure statement containing your final invoice.

  • Any outstanding amounts (e.g. repair or cleaning fees) will be settled through this invoice.

Deposit

  • Within two weeks of your contract ending, we will refund your security deposit.

  • Please note:

    • You cannot offset the deposit against unpaid charges yourself.

    • Ensure your bank account details are up to date in your profile so we can process the refund smoothly. You can share or change this via your payment details.

Service costs settlement

  • Every year by the end of July, we provide a settlement of actual service charges with any adjustments for advance payments.

  • After moving out, your final service charge settlement will be included in the next regular cycle—covering the rental period up to your departure.
